Mary Singleton grew up on a farm near Janesville, Wisconsin and has lived
all her married life in the village of Camp Douglas, Wisconsin.
After raising four children, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse (which she drove 60 miles back and forth every day). With degrees in Elementary
Education and Art Education, she taught Art to all grades 1-12 in the New Lisbon Schools for 19 years before retiring from her teaching career.
Her love of Wisconsin scenery and rural life is reflected in her work. Her paintings are imaginary, simple and idealistic, showing pleasant scenes from a by-gone-era.
She has painted many large murals for the Heileman Visitor Center in LaCrosse, German Restaurants in Camp Douglas, Sauk City and the Mauston Hospital.
Her paintings have been on the cover of "Wisconsin Country Life" Magazine fourteen (14) times. She was winner of "Viewer's Choice Award" for WHA-TV Madison 1990 and featured Artist
for 1992. She won Best Show twice at the Janesville Tallman Festival.
